Established in 1957, the KAN is an organization for dailies and news agencies in Korea. 

The KAN has adopted fifty-four members (52 dailies and 2 news agencies).

The KAN applies rigorous standards regarding the adoption of new members. 

27 of the members operate in the Seoul area, and the other 27 operate in the provinces: 2 in Busan, 3 in Daegu, 2 in Gangwon, 3 in Daejeon, 4 in Gyeonggi, 2 in South Gyeongsang, 3 in North Jeolla, 1 in Jeju, 3 in North Gyeongsang, 1 in Gwangju, 2 in Ulsan, and 1 in North Chungcheong, trespectively.

At present, there is a total of 316 dailies, 39 special-purpose dailies, and 26 news agencies registered with the Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism. Weeklies, monthlies and periodicals registered with local autonomous bodies are not included.
